In 2012 Mike Gross founded ROCKINGUITARLESSONS, in order to offer accurate instructions, video lessons and musical tips to the world. Mike has been an influential guitar player in the Southern California area, for over 25 years. He has been a full time, professional guitar instructor since 1992. Mike has played in several bands over the years, playing a wide range of music and different genres such as Hard Rock, Progressive Rock, R&B Funk, Latin and Jazz. Mike taught himself to play guitar at the age of 12 and has been rockin ever since. With a natural ear for music, Mike has the gift of “Perfect Pitch". ”Perfect Pitch,” is a musical term that means a person has the ability to identify or re-create a given musical note without the benefit of a reference tone. This has assisted him in becoming a proficient guitar player. Not everyone has the gift of perfect pitch, however, it can be taught. Mike will show you how the human ear can be trained to hear the notes and their pitch as well as the tones quality. Mike Gross has been influenced by such greats as The Beatles, Eddie Van Halen, Steve Vai, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Kiss and many more. He has worked with known musicians such as: Travis Barker (Blink 182), Mick Mars,( Motley Crue), Craig Goldy (Dio), and Juan Nelson (Ben Harper and the Innocent Criminals). Mike believes that in order to be a great musician one must be open minded to all genres of music.
Testimonials " I found one of Mike's YouTube lessons on a song by Tesla several months ago. After learning as much I could on my own from his free lessons, I started taking personal lessons on Skype. My playing has improved tremendously and my wife no longer complains when I practice. Mike is one of the most talented musicians I've ever met. He is one of the best guitar teachers I've met as well. He has a way of translating his musical gift to his students in a way that is easy to follow, understand, and put into practice on the user's end. I've had former teachers tell me to buy this book, direct me to their YouTube videos, or look things up on Wiki. You won't have any of that nonsense with Mike. He's so passionate in is desire for his students to succeed, that he takes every step he needs to, to make sure his students understand and become better players. In my 20+ years of playing with guitars, I've never met anyone quite like him. Not only is Mike Gross a great teacher, and a truly gifted musician, he's a great friend!" Brent Halper
